2/13 - Club Meeting: This month's speaker was Emery Littlefield from the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff. Emery is an event coordinator for the observatory and shared the history and many of the astounding discoveries made there. One interesting fact is that the Lowell Observatory is the largest privately funded observatory in the country which allows them the opportunity to conduct unique research that publicly funded institutions may not be able to pursue. The club is going to have to visit the observatory in one of our upcoming events.
March

3/13 - Club Meeting: This month's speaker was Betsy Klein who is one of the founders of the Plan B Foundation . This organization advocates for wolves and wolf-dog hybrids. Betsy brought her two young wolf-dogs to show the group. These guys were a little nervous, but people got the opportunity to see them up close and personal. Betsy and the pack were, also, promoting the Sedona Wolf Week event coming up in April. This will be a great opportunity for people to learn more about wolves and their role in nature.

The League is always looking for volunteers interested in participation in a worthwhile organization. The second speaker was Isaac Dudley from Friends of the Verde River. This organization is working to preserve one of the last free flowing rivers in the American Southwest. They, also, have lots of volunteer opportunities for those interested.
